Aarogya Setu app is a coronavirus tracking app that uses data provided by users, Bluetooth and location generated social graph to track if one has come close to anyone who could have tested Covid-19 positive.
The Indian government has just released an application called Aarogya Setu to track infections more actively and accurately. The app will be available on the Play Store on Aarogya Setu Android & App Store on iOS which supports for up to 11 Indian languages.
Another essential thing to note here is that as the app is based on location and users data, to make it work properly, the app requires more data from different locations. This is pretty similar to how Google Maps detects whether there's a traffic jam in some area based on location data.
In addition to this, the app also offers features like Self Assessment Test and a complete list of helpline numbers across the country. There's also a Twitter feed that keeps showing all the latest tweets Ministry of Health.
How Aarogya Setu works on iPhone iOS:
Apart from the main tracker feature, the app will let you take a quick test to check if you have matching symptoms. It also gives alert notifications if you come, even unknowingly, in the vicinity of an infected person. But, your movement data will need to be tracked regularly to ensure the service works as intended.
On the time of first installation, you’ll be asked to select a language & allow permission to use Bluetooth and GPS for tracking data. Then, a mobile number will be required to authenticate your entry, after that some personal data like name, gender, age, profession are collected, which is skippable.
The app in and of itself is just a one-page resource with a collection of official information regarding the virus that can be helpful to its users.
